Practise your skills

With practising your drawing skills you practise also your quilting skills...Isn't that wonderful?

I took a Moleskine book, some fabric, buttons, ribbon and very old beads (I think I was 10 years old when I got them)

This is the result

And this is what you can do every day...draw a heart ( I used the appliqué template) and started with swirls. Don't think about it to much. It is just to practise, not to be your best drawing ever. Go with the flow.... maybe 5 minutes is enough.

Look at every day life to get some inspiration.

What to think of the firework?

 

If you 'google' the word 'zentangle' you will get more inspiration...just start!

 

Naast een hartje appliqueren kun je elke dag ook een al tekenend een hartje versieren. Je ontwikkelt hiermee je tekenvaardigheden, wordt nog creatiever en krijgt zo ook inspiratie voor quiltwerk.

Een simpel notitieboekje voldoet, maar er zijn ook genoeg hele mooie boekjes te koop. Ik kreeg ooit een Moleskine boekje dat ik nog amper had gebruikt. Met een lapje, knoopjes en oude kraaltjes (nog van mijn basisschooltijd) werd het een extra mooi boekje. Wat potloodjes erbij en de mal voor het hartje en ik kan aan de slag...Al tekenend krijg je allerlei inspiratie.

Laat je inspireren door de dingen van de dag. Denk aan vuurwerk of  de eerste voorjaarsbloemen.

Zomaar een hartje

Slapeloze nachten kun je krijgen van berekeningen. Heb ik het nu wel goed gedaan? Wel/geen naden meegeteld. Nu heb ik inmiddels alles 5 keer gecontroleerd, zelf gesneden en gepast. En ja het klopt!

In de kersttijd zie je overal harten opduiken. Ga maar eens naar het tuincentrum of een woonwinkel...te kust en te keur.

Ik loop maar snel door....

At this time of the year you can see hearts everywhere: a lot of home decorations and special christmas items are  in the shops.

Still working on the pdf....

Mistake...

Check the pattern to see some changes.
It is about the triangles...You need more fabric than I calculated and there was a mistake in the cutting directions for these triangles. I calculated with the wrong sides of the squares/triangles. So stupid...sorry and thanks to R., who send me an alarming e-mail.

Controleer even het patroon om wat veranderingen te zien.
Het gaat over de driehoeken. Je hebt meer stof nodig dan ik had uitgerekend...dit komt omdat ik de verkeerde maten van de driehoeken in mijn hoofd had. Niet er slim dus...sorry and R. bedankt voor het sturen van een alamerend mailtje.

The pattern is available in Dutch and English. The English version in centimeter or inches! I don't know how to get the heart with the right size on my screen...It is a little bit to big when printing.

So you have to do some calculation...

Het patroon is beschikbaar: kijk bij de tabbladen hierboven. Zowel in het Engels als in het Nederlands. De Engelse versie in inches of centimeters.

Let op: de maat van het hartje komt waarschijnlijk niet goed uit je printer gerold. Bij mij wordt hij te groot. De maten van het rechthoekje staan erbij, dus dat is een houvast.

Ik ga nog uitzoeken hoe ik een pdf aan mijn blog kan hangen.

(als je het weet,dan hoor ik het graag)

 

 

Sweet Hearts 2013

In 2012 I was hooked by little houses, see building houses from scraps, every day a house was the idea. And when I was working on this blocks for a stunning quilt, I read about 365 days projects to clear your mind from the daily stuff and create with small steps something big.

I thought that I need a 365-days project for 2013 as well. The used technique will be different and less work...but inspiring for me and you. Use scraps or new fabrics, your favourite colors, a lot of colors or just a few. Next week I will give you some inpiration about color.

I am going to appliqué a little heart every day with fabrics from my stash.
And with thinking about hearts, I saw hearts everywhere:knitted, crocheted and stitched.
I am busy with collecting them as well and I am going to share patterns on this blog.
This blog will be full of hearts in every size, materials and places.

The pattern is almost ready and I hope to have it on the blog on Monday.

In 2012 was ik in de ban van de huisjes, elke dag een huisje met een fantastische quilt als resultaat. Elke dag een beetje werk, geeft na een jaar iets groots. Deze gedachte zie je niet alleen hier terug, maar overal zie je 365-dagen projecten opduiken. Elke dag een zelfde handeling, liefst creatief, om even de dagelijkse beslommeringen los te laten. Creatief bezig zijn is goed voor de geest.

 

Voor 2013 staat er een geappliqueerde hartjes quilt gepland....een patroon volgt spoedig met ook ideeën voor kleurgebruik.

En er zijn ook heel veel patronen met hartjes om te borduren, breien en haken. Ook deze komen in 2013 aan bod.

Hou dit blog in de gaten, denk vast na over je stoffen.
